MARCH 10th AT AUBURN UU (Storm Date: March 17th)
Friendly cooks and competitors: it’s time to prepare your secret chili and chowder recipes! Mild and sweet or hot and tangy… which will win hearts and palates at our Cook-Off?
Our famous UU Chili and Chowder Cook-Off is Sunday March 10th in the vestry after worship.
A fun and rousing event, the Cook-Off is a scholarship fundraiser for our all-church Ferry Beach Retreat May 3-5 at the UU Ferry Beach Camp & Conference Center in Saco.
The Cook-Off charge is $20 per family or $8.00 per 16 & older
and $4.00 per youth/child. The cost covers unlimited chili and chowder, side dishes, and drinks, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay full price.
What to do for the Chili & Chowder Cook-off:
• Sign up in advance with your name and chili or chowder name on the contribution sheets;
• Cook up a big batch of your incomparable chili or chowder for our avid tasters;
• Bring your crock-pot or dish to the vestry early March 10th; sign in at the Registration Table and get your entry number;
• Assist with serving on the 10th, or join the many attendees….eat and vote!
If you’re not a chili or chowder cook, please consider signing up to contribute: corn bread, sandwiches, finger desserts, coleslaw, lemonade, creamers, paper cups & paper plates, or plastic forks and spoons.
Stay after the Cook-Off for the Contra Dance, and work off the calories!
